Isn't God Sovereign over money?

Before words will flow here, I just have to make this declaration right away. God is the great Giver, the Fountain, the Source behind floodgates of Heaven, the One pouring in with ever-replenishing blessings and grace and hope.

The past weeks have been mind-bogging I should admit. It was rooted in my commitment to join a particular Christian conference (further details I will not mention anymore). Initially, I was confident that I could reach the amount for registration and travel with my current savings. However, with less anticipation that I will be tested, God allowed to zero-out my savings. How?

There was a sudden increase in the registration due to sudden change of venue and prior to that announcement; I already made a pledge to give to my friend who will go on missions. Hence, the dilemma came in. Should I withhold giving, as my reality will also speak of my need for asking?

I praise God for the Holy Spirit is ever present. It was His conviction that prompted me to release my hold from my savings. The half for my friend while the other half will be to the ministry.

Zero. To be honest, it was my first time to do such “brave” thing…to empty my hands through giving while trusting God to fill it with His blessings. So, how did God demonstrate His Sovereignty over money? In my situation, lo and behold, He did it in just one day. Just one day.

That morning I texted my parents for consent to the conference and asked for "little pocket money” even if deep within me I wanted to chance for more. Little did I expect, they gave me more than half of the total amount needed for registration. I was so high at that moment, praising God for such surprise! However, something was yet to unfold before the day would end.

I met with the one I disciple. We went to boulevard, sat on a bench with our knickerbocker glory, shared tests and testimonies while basking under a picturesque sunset. When it was my turn to give my prayer concern, I just simply told her about what had happened. She then asked me if the money would already suffice for me to go to the conference. I said Yes because the remaining amount to make a full payment for the registration, I could borrow it already from my sister. What happened next was beyond my imagination. She told me not to borrow anymore, as she will bless me with it. She added that even before I told her the exact remaining amount, the same digits already crossed her mind. I was caught off guard. I was dumbfounded. I just cried in front of her. She ended by telling me “JC, I don’t want you to think that you need to repay it. Just thank the Lord. All glory to Him!”

Before our giving, God is the Giver. After our giving, God is still the Giver. He is the Source on both sides. The former simply means God enables us to give through His blessings and the latter is the confidence that God rewards our giving with a double portion of His blessings.

All glory to Him indeed!

“He who sows bountifully will reap bountifully” 2 Corinthians 9:6 ESV
To you, I always thank God for you! May the Lord return a double portion of it to you. Love yah :)

Fixing the eyes

So their midnight conversation ended with an exchange of "good night." And there my heart, broken into shattered pieces. In an instant. At the most untimely time.  I didn't know where on this world had I drawn the courage to endure reading as each message kept on popping up as they recalled their past when I could have just closed my laptop right away so as not to let the piercing pain get through.  But I silently endured it up to their very last words while my heart was ruthlessly ripped away leaving it to smithereens.  I could have just flare-up in anger because silence was not my nature. To keep my mouth shut was never my kind. But, right at that moment, that voice, though a whisper compared to my slam-bang clatter, was a crystal clear I ought not to resist.  I knew it was God who tamed my waiting-to-explode emotions. He compelled me to be silent. To pour such dark cloud of despair to Him, even up to the rising of sun.  So what happen...

Mountain lessons

2 lessons Mt. Talinis imparted to me: 1. It pays to LOOK BACK When the whole group reached the outpost after 4 hours of hiking up and down, over rocks, across streams and swamps, they decided to settle there. However, Me and my classmate (bro Kyle Windsor) thought of attempting to continue the trail and hike all the way up to have a glimpse of the lake and eventually summit Mt. Talinis. Compared to what we've gone through from the bottom to outpost, the trail from that point to up was far difficult and challenging because the path gets too tricky. Your moves have to be cautioned according to the ascending climb and indeed it was no easy feat. My body especially my legs begun to ache. That was the time when the seemingly competition was between me and the one inside my head. "I'm not going to make it. I'm not strong enough." On the way up, it was so easy to give in to these anxiety demons and just stop the whole track. How I have overcome the mental chorus...

Ripple effect

Sometimes, all it takes is a heart that does not measure But only knows how to willingly give. That way, perhaps, The world can hear a perfect symphony of peace. Sometimes, all it takes is a mind that does not settle at boundaries But courageously dives into the deep waters, plunging into it, And discovering real treasures only found in the littlest of things. That way, perhaps, The world can know simplicity. Sometimes, all it takes is an eye that does not judge But rather looks behind the physical that reveals a humble beauty ready to sprinkle the light that will shine above the rest. That way, perhaps, The world can realize how beautifully created it was. Sometimes, all it takes is an ear that does not just hear But earnestly listens to what the lips plead. That way, perhaps, The world can withstand pain. Sometimes, all it takes is a mouth that does not carelessly reject And unwittingly use the most scathing words But rather speaks for...
